Andrea Pirlo to Avondale?

Italian midfield maestro, Andrea Pirlo, may ignite the FFA Cup with a possible appearance with Avondale FC in their forthcoming round of 8 match against Sydney FC. Avondale is the club that was recently in trouble with FFA because of the small Italian flag on the back of their playing shirt. Ray Gatt reports that the club's management has confirmed an approach has been made to Pirlo.

But Sydney FC fans - have no fear! It turns out Sydney FC has a "secret dossier" on Pirlo because Siem De Jong has played him in a Champions League fixture. De Jong says Pirlo is one of the best.

Socceroos

Graham Arnold says he was very happy with the five-day training camp in Turkey. It wasn't about playing and training, but getting to know the players and introducing new staff to players and vice-versa. He says it "ticked every box".

Just like old times at Adelaide United

Aurelio Vidmar has re-joined the club, of which he was once the coach - taking them all the way to the Asian Champions League fnal - as director of football, while the son of another former coach, John Kosmina's son Nathan, has been named CEO of the club.

Vidmar said his first task is to meet with Adelaide United coach, Marco Kurz, but Viddie is adamant he is not there to be involved in a coaching capacity. His role includes the A-League, W-League and Y-League squads, as well as establishing coaching academies and player development.
