Socceroos

Good reads from Dom Bossi and Marco Monteverde talking with Mat Ryan on the adjustments he’s had to make to his game since joining the EPL with Brighton. Maty notes that they play much deeper in the EPL and are more physical (queue: Craig Foster …)

Who would have thought a giant shirt with the sponsor’s name emblazoned on it was Honduran “mind games”?

The team says they’re sticking to the fundamentals, they won’t change their style, and they’re after “tactical redemption”

An unconfirmed rumour that Ange Postecoglou is interested in the vacant coaching role at Rangers – but he faces some stiff opposition including the likes of Steve McLaren, Alan Pardew, Mark O’Neill and Rangers’ fan favourite Derek McInnes.

Today, we take a look at the form of both teams leading into the matches.

A-League

It seemed such a good idea at the time … or did it? Going to a club in the Turkish first division which was struggling. Eugene Galekovic says Melbourne City has great depth this season, and they will only get better.

W-League

A move from Melbourne City to Arsenal. That’s where Joe Montemurro, former head coach of Melbourne City and Melbourne Victory W-League teams, and current assistant of City’s A-League team, is heading. Presumably, he won’t be on quite as shaky ground as Tony Popovic! All the best Joe.

Teenager Ellie Carpenter hopes to use her time with Canberra United as a springboard to the NWSL – but first up, stopping Lisa De Vanna when Canberra meets Sydney FC this weekend. The same story gets a run in the News Limited tabloids.

FFA Congress

Hanging on as long as possible, the FFA Board calls for the EGM on 30 November, the deadline day given by FIFA before a ‘Normalisation Committee’ steps-in. We’ll write more on this later.
