Former rep tennis player & golfer, former high school teacher & now full time sports writer

Just like classical literature, there is a poetry in football that is hard to explain.

Stuart is a talented sportsperson, having been a member of the first eleven football and cricket teams at senior school level and a representative tennis player and golfer. After studying English literature at University and working in the Education sector, he shifted focus and became a trainee golf professional at the New South Wales Golf Club in Sydney. Soon after, family life became something of a focus and he returned to the security of the Education sector, working at Barker College in the northern suburbs of Sydney from 2008 to 2017.

His writing career began at TheRoar.com.au in 2015, and the site granted him expert status in 2017, after only two and a half years of contributions across a variety of sports. Grappling with key issues in Football, Rugby League, AFL, Tennis and Cricket, Stuart has been able to develop a reputation as an astute contributor with a witty turn of phrase and a focus on the human side of the sporting landscape. He lives in the Northern Suburbs of Sydney with his wife Helen and his two children, Lauryn and Sarah.

His website StuartThomas.com.au contains his sporting work, as well as essays and articles exploring men's health and contemporary social issues.

Stuart's teams: Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, Sydney FC, West Ham United and Roger Federer
