A study from the CIES Football Observatory puts Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne as the highest valued player in the world at €144.6 million, with three other City squad members also worth more than €100 million – Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus.

The ratings also put the value of four clubs in the 'billionaire club' ranks.

Transfer values are calculated by CIES using a combination of contract duration, year of transfer, book value, loan status and capacity of buying club. (You can read more about it here).

In addition to Manchester City, three other clubs have an aggregated transfer value of current squad members for more than €1 billion. They are Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona and Chelsea.

PSG is ranked eighth with a value of €864 million, of which one player, Neymar, accounts for a little over one-quarter of that value. By contrast, De Bruyne's value is around 12.1% of Manchester City while the highest rated players for Tottenham (Harry Kane), Barcelona (Luis Suarez) and Chelsea (Eden Hazard) are 15.8%, 11.8% and 11.6% respectively.
