In his quest to play professional football - or at least to continue the PR moves - the world's fastest man, Usain Bolt, has spent two days on a 'special trial' with Borussia Dortmund.
“It was a great experience to train and be part of the Borussia Dortmund team, everyone was so welcoming that I felt like I was home,” said Bolt.
Being able to receive professional advice, great training tips and play with some of the best players made it even more special.”
Bolt said he will use everything he learned in the two days to help improve himself as “the beginning of my football journey”.
Marco Reus said he enjoyed the experience too.
“It was great to have Usain join us for training. I watched him in his training sessions and I think he has some real football skills. I can’t wait to see what he does next,” Reus said.
Under the watchful eyes of Borussia Dortmund’s coaches, Bolt took part in a closed training session, and tested the ‘Footbonaut,’ BVB’s bespoke training device. On Friday, he took to the pitch in an open training session with the squad, surrounded by fans who showed up to see the special guest, then received a skills assessment from the club’s coaches.
The experience with Borussia Dortmund for Bolt was brokered by PUMA who gave him a pair of football boots customised with the Jamaican flag on the outsole and laces coloured in the black, green and gold of Jamaican's national colours.
